The creation of a new version of Christianity as an official religion for the entire Roman Empire under Emperor Constantine was not just about standardizing the various Christian sects, it was about entirely replacing the many pagan religions in the various nations of the Roman Empire (Eostre, Saxon Goddess of fertility, renewal and rebirth, now became Easter, the rising of Jesus from the dead, etc. etc.).

The religion of Krishna was also considered by the Roman emperor as a possibility, but the urgings of the manipulative Jewish Piso family to the Roman Emperor Constantine swayed his decision, and so it was that Christianity became the new official religion for all in the empire.
